América Móvil given green light to use 5G in Peru

Peru has now authorised the group América Móvil to offer fixed wireless and mobile services from the 3500 MHz (3.5 GHz) band, through WiMAX, LTE and 5G technologies in 111 locations, used by 81% of the Peruvian population, and for 20 years. This decision follows Peru's estimation that the use of 5G could represent an investment of around 5 billion soles ($1.37 billion) in the medium term.

The US shares vaccination practices with Peru

Peru's government exchanged with the US Embassy and West Virginia's Interagency focused on COVID-19 vaccination, over their respective vaccination processes, specifically the logistics, refrigeration and vaccine administration systems. With the highest vaccination rate in the world, the US state vaccination practices are particularly valuable to Peru in improving the distribution and protecting the most vulnerable citizens.

Government in talks with Russia to buy tens of thousand vaccine doses

Peru's President announced that the government was negotiating with the Russian laboratory Gamaleya over the Sputnik V vaccine. Sagasti mentioned that Peru was looking to buy tens of thousands vaccine doses. The Russian ambassador in Peru also emphasised that the vaccine is very safe and was trialed by not only clinical trials but also millions of people in Russia already.
