Over 70,000 of Peru’s 200,000 restaurants had to close due to lockdown

The Ministry of Economy announced a programme of 2 billion soles ($55 million) to support small and medium companies that were highly impacted by the lockdown restrictive measures, such as restaurants. Indeed, according to the Lima's Chambre of Commerce, over 70,000 restaurants had to close in Peru, causing over a million people to lose their job.

Copper price increases by 17%

The price of copper is currently at $4.11 for a pound, the highest it has been in 10 years and representing a 17% increase so far in 2021. The rise in the price of the red metal can be explained by the strong Chinese demand, the inflation increase concerns, the low price of dollar and the historic low levels of inventory.
